Stacey Dunbar is a mother, educator, consultant, and small business owner who has served and supported her community in the field of education over the past twenty-five years.
Stacey received her BS in Early Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As an educator, Stacey was certified to teach Pre-K through 3rd grade, received her English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement, and taught in a dual-language Spanish immersion classrooms. After numerous years of teaching, Stacey began an educational consulting business where she mentored, developed, and improved Spanish immersion, bilingual and ESL programs in school districts and service centers throughout the state of Texas with research-based staff development.
In 2009, Stacey opened Aprende con Amigos, a Spanish immersion preschool in North Portland. The educational approach at Aprende con Amigos directly reflects and implements a variety of philosophies, methods and strategies to better meet the needs of all students. Her curriculum is unique and based on best practices and current research in the fields of immersion education. In October of 2016, Stacey opened a second location in north-east Portland to further support her community. In her twenty-five years as an educator, Stacey honed in on what providers truly need in order to thrive both personally and professionally. So Stacey pursued her Master Trainer certification for the sate of Oregon and provides meaningful, thought provoking, learning packed continuing education with simple solutions and strategies participants will walk away with and be able to implement into their program the very next day.
Stacey’s experience working intimately within the community has also shown her how the daily grind of raising children and balancing work and family take a toll on parents, children, and employees. Self-love and self-care are moved to the back-burner. Simply put, when you are not your best, you cannot be your best for your partner, children or community. So in 2023, Stacey obtained a master’s level coaching certification from Parent Coaching Institute and employs the same methodology to support growth and healing to both providers in the childcare and preschool industry as well as to parents who are struggling with the day in and day out challenges of being a parent. Stacey understands that when providers and parents are working from an empowered version of themselves, they, their families, and the community as a whole thrives. She is honored to walk this path and share her support, knowledge, and wisdom she’s gained through years of experience as a provider, professional, and parent.
The Aspen Center is a culmination of Stacey’s earned expertise as a teacher, educational consultant, preschool provider, trainer and coach. She is honored to serve her community and support the professionals who provide the foundation for the next generation of adults.
